ICYMI: NCDP, Sen. Nickel Highlight Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act, Bo Hines’ MAGA Extremism

Today, following President Biden signing the Inflation Reduction Act into law, State Senator and NC-13 congressional candidate Wiley Nickel, North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) Chair Bobbie Richardson, Pat LeGrand, 1st Vice President of Johnston County Senior Dems, and Ned Walsh, a Johnston County senior held a press conference highlighting how Democrats took on special interests to cut costs for working families while Republicans sided with Big Pharma and Big Oil and stripped a measure to cap insulin costs at $35 per/month.

If elected to Congress, North Carolinians can count on Bo Hines being a rubber stamp on Republicans’ MAGA agenda. From wanting to ban abortion with no exceptions to calling to defund the FBI, Hines continues to prove he’s too extreme for North Carolina.

“The Inflation Reduction Act will cut costs for working families in my district without raising taxes on anyone making less than $400,000 a year. Here in North Carolina’s 13th District, we have an opponent on the other side who doesn’t care one bit about that. Bo Hines is more invested in being a ‘MAGA warrior’ than reaching across the aisle to help solve problems for working families. I’m proud of my work as a State Senator to reach across the aisle for bipartisan solutions. That’s what I’ve done in the State Senate and that’s what I’ll do in Washington,” said State Senator and NC-13 congressional candidate Wiley Nickel.

“Special interests, like Big Pharma and Big Oil, fought hard against the Inflation Reduction Act and helped convince every Republican to vote against it, but Democrats beat out corporate greed and scored a big win for working families in North Carolina. If Bo Hines gets elected, North Carolinians can count on him being a rubber stamp on Republicans’ MAGA agenda. This November, we need to elect Wiley Nickel to Congress,” said NCDP Chair Bobbie Richardson

“As a voter in the 13th District and as a senior, Bo Hines’ extremism terrifies me. Republicans are pushing an agenda to cut Social Security and Medicare programs. Like millions of North Carolinians, I rely on Social Security and Medicare benefits. If Wiley’s extreme MAGA opponent, Bo Hines, were to win, he will vote in lock step with Republicans who want to take away, or greatly, reduce our benefits. I trust Wiley Nickel and I hope you will give him your vote,” said Pat LeGrand, 1st Vice President of Johnston County Senior Dems

“Our district simply cannot afford Bo Hines in Congress. It’s clear that Bo Hines would be a rubber stamp on Republicans’ extreme agenda to cut Social Security and Medicare. While President Biden and Democrats are working to lower costs, MAGA extremist Bo Hines continues to prove that he’d be another vote in Congress pushing Republicans’ dangerous agenda. The 13th District’s seniors can’t afford Bo Hines. We must elect Wiley Nickel come November,” said Ned Walsh, a Johnston County senior
