Every Single NC Republican in Congress Voted Against These Tax Cuts, Which Are Set to Cut Child Poverty in Half

Today, Thursday, July 15 is the first day North Carolinians will start receiving a monthly tax cut of up to $300 per child as part of the American Rescue Plan. Thanks to President Biden and Democrats, and no thanks to Republicans in Congress who unanimously opposed this relief plan, this tax cut will provide monthly relief of up $300 per child to the families of two million children in North Carolina, helping lift 137,000 children out of poverty.

North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Dr. Bobbie Richardson released the following statement highlighting the program: 

“Today’s payments are a huge win for working families across North Carolina. Thanks to President Biden and Democrats, North Carolina families will begin receiving a tax cut monthly, helping to cover expenses like child care, preparing for back to school, and supporting return to work for folks who lost their jobs or income during the pandemic – especially mothers. This major tax relief for working families is poised to lift hundreds of thousands of North Carolina children out of poverty, no thanks to a single Republican in Congress.
