5 Days 5 Ways: Funding A Sound Basic Education Helps North Carolina Early Education

A child’s education begins early in their life, and a strong foundation can set them up for life-long success in school. All children should have the opportunity to establish this foundation through an early childhood education system, regardless of zip code or background. By fully funding a sound basic education, North Carolina’s early education system would receive the funding needed to ensure everyone has access to these essential building blocks for a brighter future.

“Ensuring all kids can access pre-k and early childhood education sets them up for success in the future,” said NCDP Chair Bobbie Richardson. “These programs also help parents get back to work and grow the economy. Expanding early childhood education is a win-win, and long overdue.”

By fully funding a sound basic education, North Carolina children would benefit from expanded Pre-K and year round programs, increased assistance for child care costs, and pay raises for early childhood educators.
