Reporting from WRAL yesterday highlighted the impact of the delayed primary on the GOP U.S. Senate primary, and the forecast isn’t looking great for Pat McCrory. A Republican campaign consultant said that the “longer the race goes, the worse it is for McCrory.” The News & Observer notes that the intensified attacks may be a “sign” that he is “growing concerned” of Budd rising in the polls. 

As Democrats stand united, North Carolina Republican candidates will continue their chaotic primary season, meaning “more cash on ads and mailers – attacking each other instead of the Democratic nominee.”
