Statement on Mike Pence’s Wednesday Visit to North Carolina

Raleigh – Ahead of Vice President Mike Pence’s visit to a Raleigh-area school on Wednesday, NCDP Chair Wayne Goodwin released the following statement:

“Mike Pence’s visit here doesn’t change the fact that the Trump administration is advocating for a dangerous and short-sighted approach to reopening our schools. Instead of putting into place the appropriate safety protocols and allowing states to make their own decisions based on coronavirus trends, Donald Trump has threatened to cut federal funding for schools that opt for virtual instruction. Instead of bullying local leaders, this administration needs to be equipping schools with the resources they need to make sure our children are safe and getting the education they need — whether in person or online.”
