North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Wayne Goodwin issued the following statement in response to reports that the U.S.’s coronavirus death toll had surpassed 100,000 people: 

“Today’s tragic news is a sobering reminder of the immense impact the coronavirus has had on our country, but also of the necessity of steady, experienced leadership in the face of an ongoing crisis. Now more than ever North Carolinians need a president who can lead us out of the hole the Trump administration has dug — someone who will trust experts, facts and science as we look to protect the public, reopen our country and revive our economy. Joe Biden has shown he will be the president who meets the moment.”
