NCDP Holds Five Stops on 2020 Virtual Rural Tour

Last week, The North Carolina Democratic Party completed five more stops on its 2020 Rural NC Listening Tour. NCDP Chairman Wayne Goodwin spoke with local leaders about how Democratic Party’s agenda will support North Carolina’s rural communities.

Goodwin held virtual events with Democrats from more than 50 counties across North Eastern, South Eastern NC, Southern, Central and Western North Carolina with more than 150 Democrats participating. Goodwin has held in-person listening events in 43 of North Carolina’s 100 counties.

“During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, our rural communities are suffering now more than ever, while still facing the unique challenges they’ve been battling for decades,” said Wayne Goodwin, Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Democrats are fighting for rural communities with policies like universal broadband, medicaid expansion and investments in our Rural School systems. Our Rural NC Listening Tour is about reaching out to people, discussing the issues they’re interested in, and hearing how we as Democrats can earn their vote this November.”

Goodwin launched the Rural NC Listening Tour in February 2018 and has featured events including town halls, listening sessions and roundtable discussions. More virtual stops are planned for later this year.
