With Gov. Cooper At The Helm, North Carolina Leads The Nation In Vaccine Distribution

Thanks to steady leadership from Governor Cooper, North Carolina is now ranked first in the nation for vaccinating the largest share of its 65 and older population according to a Kaiser Family Foundation report released last week.

Governor Cooper has prioritized equity and speed from the start, and thanks to his strong leadership, our state is making progress. North Carolina has become a leader in distributing this vaccine with efficiency, equity and transparency.

With help from the Biden-Harris administration, the federal government is also standing up a FEMA-supported vaccination site in Greensboro that will provide up to 3,000 vaccinations a day to underserved communities. And now, 80,000 doses of the one-shot vaccine is authorized and on its way to North Carolina.

“North Carolina re-elected Governor Cooper in 2020 because he has fought tirelessly for the people of our state throughout this pandemic and led with a laser-focus on science and public health,” said NCDP Chair Bobbie Richardson. “His hard work to make North Carolina a leader in ensuring we distribute the vaccine fairly and efficiently will allow us to turn the corner on the pandemic and build back a stronger, more resilient North Carolina.”
