As Ted Budd held a private fundraiser with election deniers who tried to overturn the legitimate 2020 election, including Cleta Mitchell and Lara Trump, residents of Southern Pines came out in protest of his campaign.

“When Congressman Budd voted to overturn the 2020 election and undermine American democracy he showed North Carolinians that he has no problem trying to change the rules to benefit himself and his political allies,” said NCDP spokesperson Kate Frauenfelder. “Instead of working to lower costs for working families, Ted Budd is cozying up to dangerous election deniers and conspiracy theorists that are out of step with North Carolinians.”
