Side-By-Side: While Republicans Want to Raise Taxes on Up To 40% of North Carolinians, Democrats Push to Lower Costs

While Republicans push to raise taxes on nearly 40 percent of North Carolinians, President Biden and Democrats are working to lower costs and make billionaires pay their fair share

While Republicans are already on defense over their agenda of tax hikes and raised premiums, they will also have to spend this April recess explaining their record of voting against measures to lower costs for Americans.

Over the past two weeks, Republicans in Congress have voted against bills to make insulin more affordable, which as many as one million North Carolinians rely on, and help as many as over 4,000 North Carolina restaurants and businesses who didn’t receive the first round of Restaurant Revitalization Fund relief to cover costs.

House Democrats, meanwhile, overwhelmingly voted in favor of bills to cap the monthly cost of insulin at $35 and get much needed relief to local businesses, and President Biden has proposed a plan to make sure billionaires’ taxes go up – not working North Carolinians.

See for yourself how Democrats and Republicans’ agendas stack up against each other:

“The difference couldn’t be clearer — while President Biden and Democrats want to make the wealthiest pay their fair share and lower costs for working North Carolinians, Republicans have no plan to lower costs – leaving working North Carolinians to foot the bill,” said NCDP Spokesperson Ellie Dougherty
