As J.D. Vance parachutes into Concord today, here’s a reminder that DC insider Michael Whatley has cheered on the GOP’s toxic agenda that defunds local and state law enforcement, guts Medicaid, and raises costs on working families.

• Whatley pressured Republicans to publicly support the GOP budget bill that guts Medicaid for hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians, puts five rural hospitals at risk of closing, and spikes costs. He even called it a “huge win.”
• As the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) cut hundreds of millions in public safety funding, Whatley called the cuts “vital” and “fundamental” and even raised money off of them.
• Whatley is so desperate to cover up his weak-on-crime record that he has been repeatedly caught lying about Governor Cooper’s record of keeping North Carolina families safe.
