Earlier this week, Ted Budd held a fundraiser with Cleta Mitchell, a lawyer who was instrumental in former President Trump’s attempts to overturn the 2020 election. Now, NC Policy Watch is reporting that she is helping to train poll observers in North Carolina. 

Every reporter covering his bid for U.S. Senate should ask Ted Budd: Do you think that election deniers who attempted to overturn a legitimate election should be tasked with training people to protect the vote? 

The New York Times described Mitchell’s work to undermine the will of the people as a “stunning assault on the transfer of power” and noted that her efforts now tap into “a network of grass-root groups that promote misinformation and espouse wild theories about the 2020 election.”
