As Pandemic Rages, Trump Continues His Attack on North Carolinians’ Health Care

Republican Attorneys General, backed by the Trump administration, will file a brief today asking the Supreme Court to dismantle the Affordable Care Act, eliminating health care protections and coverage for millions of North Carolinians. A new analysis published this week showed that more than 600,000 North Carolinians and 23 million Americans nationwide would lose coverage if the lawsuit is successful.

NCDP Chairman and former State Insurance Commissioner Wayne Goodwin issued the following statement:

“Today’s filing by the Republicans and the Trump administration is a purely partisan attempt to undo years of progress when it comes to accessible health insurance. Millions of North Carolinians depend on the protections of the ACA, and Republicans have made it clear that they will never stop their assault on these benefits. This is an attack on working families in our state, and come November, we’ll remind Donald Trump and his allies that they can’t get away with it.”
