The Cost Of Chaos, North Carolina Impact, Vote BLUE

Our Digital Messages This Week 👇

The Cost Of Chaos

When Republican leaders at the General Assembly couldn’t stop bickering long enough to pass a budget, they didn’t just fail politically — they failed North Carolina families. Their endless gridlock isn’t just embarrassing, it’s hurting real people.

As of October 1, Medicaid reimbursements for personal care services have been slashed by 8%. We’re talking about the everyday heroes who help out seniors, people with disabilities, and kids with special needs—now they’re juggling way less cash, either stretching every dollar or facing the heartbreaking call to shut down.

Let’s be clear: These cuts fall firmly on Republican leaders in the NCGA.

Folks running these services across the state are staring down the barrel of empty rooms and families left scrambling. Just listen to Whitney Shore, who runs Tranquility Care in Winston-Salem. “It puts small businesses like mine at risk of closing,” she shared with WXII News. These cuts are biting into her team’s paychecks and the food on the shelves, forcing her to choose between letting good people go or turning away the very people who depend on her like family.

Here’s what’s wild. Hall and Berger both agreed on the exact dollar needed to prevent these Medicaid cuts—yet a petty disagreement from years ago is the direct reason families and care providers are now being forced to sink or swim. Their inability to put grudges aside didn’t just stall a budget—it created crisis. It’s time for Republicans in Raleigh to get their act together, pass a real budget, and stop treating Medicaid like collateral damage.

Shutdown Impacts On North Carolina

It’s been over a week since Republicans shut down the government because they refuse to fix the healthcare crisis they created. According to The Washington Post, 71% of Americans want the Affordable Tax Credits extended. Even Marjorie Taylor Greene admits the Republican coalition is starting to crack.

As the shutdown drags on, North Carolina is feeling the fallout. Nearly 140,000 workers across the state face delayed paychecks as non-essential federal employees get furloughed. Essential personnel, like active-duty military and TSA agents, are still working — but if the shutdown continues, many could go weeks without pay.

All because Republicans don’t want YOU to have affordable healthcare.

It’s not just workers paying the price. Critical programs are grinding to a halt. Critical services like WIC are straining under the pressure, leaving nearly 200k pregnant women and children across North Carolina facing challenges accessing nutritious meals. USDOT slowdowns mean our storm-damaged roads and everyday commutes sit in limbo. HUD freezes leaves housing assistance in limbo, leaving our neighbors one notice away from the street.

All because Republicans don’t want YOU to have affordable healthcare.

The government is supposed to serve the people, not serve as a political weapon — and Democrats are holding that line. We’re on the frontlines, fighting tooth and nail to protect your healthcare and get America back up and running.

Vote BLUE!

It’s Voter Education Week! A great reminder that being prepared to vote is more important than ever. In North Carolina, municipal elections are already underway in some counties, with others happening soon! Local elections have some of the biggest impacts on our daily lives, from schools and public safety to city services and leadership.

If there’s one thing we know, thanks to Republicans, voting has been made difficult on purpose. From redrawing maps to trying to erase voters from the rolls, they’ve stopped at nothing to cling to power.

Preparation is key. That’s why we created Your Guide to Voting BLUE—to make sure you’re fully prepared to hit the polls and make your voice heard!

  • B – Be Registered and ready to vote! Double-check your registration so you don’t have any surprises at the polls.
  • L – Locate your voting sites! Know where and when you’ll cast your ballot.
  • U – Update your ID (if needed). You must have an ID to vote in North Carolina. If you don’t have one, you can get a free voter ID here!
  • E – Encourage a friend to do the same! Our voices are more powerful when we stand together.

Even if you’ve already voted, now is the time to encourage others to be prepared and get involved. Prepared voters are powerful voters—let’s make sure every vote counts!

That’s a wrap for this week’s messaging!

We encourage you to take the content from this week’s package and share it across your social media platforms. Remember, your voice has the power to start a movement! This is for you to use in your community, so COPY, PASTE, and SPREAD the word!
