150+ Day Failure, School Funding, Running For Office
Our Digital Messages This Week 👇
Standing Against Injustice: Community Response to ICE Action
Over the Thanksgiving holiday, we hoped you found time to rest and connect with loved ones. However, our work for justice never truly takes a break. This past Saturday, over 100 volunteers stood in solidarity with our Wendell neighbor, who was taken by ICE agents from her worksite.
The press covered the event and spoke with her family about the critical importance of community support. This incident is part of a broader pattern where individuals are racially profiled based on their skin color and even their accent.
We are pushing back by educating voters through “know your rights” resources. We must also be aware that these same intimidation tactics could be used at the polls to discredit legal voters of color.
We will not let this happen.
To protect every voter, we need more eyes, more voices, and more trained defenders. Volunteer with your local party — your involvement matters.
150+ Days of Failure: North Carolina’s Stalled State Budget
North Carolina is the only state in the country without a budget. This 150+ day failure rests with Republican legislators, who have ignored the governor’s call to return to the capitol and do their job!
Instead the GOP has clocked out for the rest of the year. Everyday without a budget is another day our teachers and state employees go without deserved raises, crucial projects remain unfunded, and Medicaid is forced to keep in place devastating rate cuts.
Here’s how you can take action: Call your local Republican legislator and tell them vacation is over. North Carolina needs a real budget — now.
The Leandro Case: The Fight for School Funding
As students return to class, many walk back into the same challenges created by years of GOP underfunding: crumbling buildings, outdated textbooks, and overcrowded classrooms. Now, 1 in 3 North Carolina schools are labeled failing — and that outcome was a choice.
The Leandro case remains a vital tool in securing every child’s constitutional right to a sound education. We’re working closely with education partners and exploring a rally this month to demand proper funding for our schools.
If you have a story from your child’s classroom or your own, we’d love to hear it — and help lift your voice through the media.

Thanks to Gov. @RoyCooperNC, Gov. @JoshStein_ and Democratic leadership, Medicaid was expanded to nearly 700,000 North Carolinians two years ago.
While the NCGOP seeks to cut healthcare, we’ll keep fighting to ensure all North Carolinians can afford to access care.

It’s been over 150 days and Republicans still haven’t passed a budget. Instead of doing their jobs, they clocked out for the rest of the year.

Day of Action Repair Canvass | December 13th (Multiple Time Slots)
This canvass is our chance to protect democracy at the door. Thousands of North Carolinians are on the NC Board of Elections “Registration Repair” list simply because their voter registration is missing an ID number. If we don’t help them fix it now, they will be required to cast a provisional ballot next time they vote. This is a virtual canvass launch. At the start of your shift, you will join a Zoom for information and your list number.
