Raleigh –  North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Wayne Goodwin has released the following statement following Leader Berger’s announcement that the Senate GOP would not seek a budget veto override during next week’s short session: 

“Republicans in the General Assembly have spent the better part of a year seeking to override Governor Cooper’s veto of a partisan budget that shortchanged educators and refused to expand access to health care. Especially in this moment of crisis for our state, it’s time for them to come to the negotiating table in good faith and work with Governor Cooper to develop a budget that supports all North Carolinians.”
