Today, Governor Cooper unveiled his proposal for how to spend the $5.7 billion in federal funding from the American Rescue Plan, with a focus on expanding rural broadband and college scholarships for low-income families, investing in clean water and workforce development, increasing housing affordability, and promoting economic recovery for the hardest-hit industries across the state. NCDP Chair Bobbie Richardson released the following statement after Governor Cooper’s announcement today:

“Thanks to President Biden and Democrats, help is on its way to North Carolina. Governor Cooper’s proposal makes clear that we can not only recover from this pandemic, but rebuild our communities and make significant investments that will propel us into the future. I call on the General Assembly to quickly take up these recommendations and act now for the people of North Carolina. Together, we can create a state that expands opportunity and gives everyone a fair shot.”
