NEW FROM NYTIMES: Whatley Refuses To Answer Why He Blew Through FEMA Final Report Deadline

As FEMA Chief Is Ousted, Whatley’s FEMA Failures Are In The Spotlight

DC insider Michael Whatley is ignoring questions from the New York Times about the FEMA Review Council’s final report that he failed to complete on time. Whatley – the co-chair of the Final Report Subcommittee – blew through the November 16th deadline to submit the report.

New York Times: Trump Wanted to Abolish FEMA. His Own Advisers Disagree.

  • The panel failed to release its final report by Sunday as required by an executive order Mr. Trump issued in May.

  • Most of the members of the task force are Republicans, including Michael Whatley, the former chairman of the Republican National Committee. He is running for a Senate seat in North Carolina, which was battered by Hurricane Helene last year and is still waiting for some FEMA aid.

  • Through a spokeswoman, Mr. Whatley declined to comment on the contents of the report.

Whatley’s FEMA failures are piling up after he was put in charge of federal Helene recovery efforts nearly 11 months ago and failed to deliver federal relief to Western North Carolina, drawing calls for him to be fired.
