Days after Young Republican leaders were exposed for their racist and antisemitic group chat, DC insider Michael Whatley has refused to condemn Peter Giunta.
Giunta – “the most prominent voice in the chat spreading racist messages” – supported Whatley as RNC Chairman, congratulating him on his re-election as Chair and praising him for “transform[ing]” the RNC.
Despite Giunta saying he loved Hitler, referencing sending people to gas chambers, referring to Black people as “monkeys” and “watermelon people,” and supporting slavery, Whatley has yet to condemn his rhetoric and denounce his support.
“Michael Whatley has stayed completely silent on his endorser Peter Giunta’s disgusting rhetoric. If Whatley doesn’t have the backbone to stand up for what’s right – even if it means standing up to his own party – then he shouldn’t be running to represent North Carolinians in the U.S. Senate,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor for the North Carolina Democratic Party.
