North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Wayne Goodwin, the Party’s Hispanic American Caucus President David Salazar and Asian American and Pacific Islander Caucus President Dr. Gracie Galloway issued the following statement in response to the Supreme Court’s decision to block President Trump’s effort to end DACA:

“Today’s decision is an enormous victory not just for Dreamers, but for our entire country. We are at our best when we embrace and celebrate our diversity, and the men and women who have benefited from the DACA program have been part of the fabric of our society for most of their lives. 

“Even as we celebrate, we know there is more work that remains. North Carolina Democrats will continue to push for greater progress, including comprehensive reform to create a just immigration system where no one’s future is subject to the political whims of any administration.

“But for now, with the Supreme Court’s ruling today, we know that the hundreds of thousands of Dreamers across our country — including more than 20,000 here in North Carolina — are here to stay, and we are enriched and stronger because of it.”
