Raleigh – North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Wayne Goodwin released the following statement on the GOP Senate primary that forced Senator Tillis to bleed campaign cash, compromise on his principles, and take positions out of step with North Carolina:

“For the least popular Senator in the country, the damage has already been done. Senator Tillis started the cycle in such a weak position earlier this year that he was just forced to spend nearly a million dollars in campaign cash to fend off a primary challenger, and in the process he took unpopular positions that actively hurt North Carolina and exposed himself as a flip-flopping fraud who is disliked by voters across party lines. With a long record as a spineless politician who takes orders from his special interest donors in Washington, Senator Tillis remains self-serving, unpopular, and one of the most vulnerable Senators in the country as he limps into his re-election campaign.”
