In two days, the ACA tax credits will expire and drive up health care premiums by double or more for nearly a million North Carolinians – thanks to Michael Whatley supporting DC Republicans’ refusal to fix the health care crisis they created.
Lea Charlton from Mitchell County is one of the North Carolinians who relies on the ACA tax credits to afford her health care.

Transcript:
My name is Lea Charlton and I live in Spruce Pine, North Carolina.
In June, I had a midbrain stroke, and since then, I have had a couple of more strokes.
I had to take early retirement due to severe cardiac issues, which are now further complicated by these strokes.
I rely on the ACA tax credits to afford my health coverage.
I already spend a whopping $20,000 per year on health care, which includes my $926 per month ACA subsidized monthly premium, for the privilege of a $7,800 out of pocket expenditure.
If Washington Republicans let the ACA credits expire, my health insurance annual expenditure will increase most likely to $30,000 or more.
It is obviously unsustainable for any normal person like myself.
