NCDP Statement On Asian American & Pacific Islander Heritage Month

To mark Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month, North Carolina Democratic Party Chair Bobbie Richardson and NCDP AAPI President Gracie Galloway released the following joint statement:

“During AAPI Heritage Month, we celebrate the tremendous contributions of the AAPI community in North Carolina and across the country. From starting small businesses, serving in our military since the inception of our nation, and rising to the occasion as leaders across industries, the AAPI community is an essential thread in the fabric of North Carolina.

“We also recognize the rise of xenophobic, hateful, and violent attacks that the AAPI community has faced since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic that have no place in our state or society. North Carolina Democrats could not be prouder to stand with the AAPI community in our continued fight for justice. We will not stay silent and will not let hate win.”

Community members will gather for an event to celebrate AAPI Heritage Month on Saturday, May 21st from 4:30PM – 6:30PM. RSVP to Manisha Dass at manidass@gmail.com or text only 919.600.3191.
