Ahead of Donald Trump’s visit to Rocky Mount last Friday, NCDP Chair Anderson Clayton rallied North Carolinians and called out DC insider Michael Whatley’s agenda that is driving up health care costs for working families.
Whatley called it a “huge win” when Medicaid was ripped from hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians. Now, he’s siding with DC Republicans who refuse to extend the ACA tax credits, which will send premiums soaring for nearly a million North Carolinians in just a couple weeks.

Anderson Clayton: “If we know one thing, it’s that Whatley will always side with D.C. politicians to hurt working families and make life more expensive. And after all, that’s what he has spent his entire career doing: Whatley is a lifelong D.C. political hack, a big oil lobbyist who has spent his career putting billionaires and special interests ahead of families across the United States—not just in North Carolina.”

“And ahead of the President’s speech, Democrats held a rally against Trump and Whatley. They touched on him trying to blame economic troubles on the Democrats, to increasing health care costs that are impacting many across North Carolina.”
Anderson Clayton: “Remember that he and Michael Whatley are attacking our health care, making it unaffordable, and Whatley will continue to champion that agenda in the United States Senate, and that’s why we are going to reject Michael Whatley next November.”

“Today in downtown Raleigh, holding signs that said ‘Michael Whatley: Wrong for NC’, Democrats called former RNC and North Carolina GOP Chairman Michael Whatley someone who they believe is a DC insider who was handpicked by Republicans.”
