DC insider Michael Whatley is getting called out for cheering on Washington Republicans as they shut down the government instead of fixing the health care crisis they created.
Because Republicans are refusing to stop health care costs from rising even more, almost 900,000 North Carolinians will see their health care premiums increase by double or more on average starting in January.
In addition to supporting Washington Republicans’ government shutdown over fixing the health crisis they created, Whatley championed the toxic GOP budget that guts Medicaid for hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians, calling it a “huge win.”
Host: “[Congresswoman Deborah] Ross criticized Republicans for what she says is a failure to act on continuing enhanced tax credits in the Affordable Care Act.”
Ross: “This crisis is all thanks to the Republicans who have repeatedly voted to spike health care costs – from gutting medicaid for hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians, to putting rural hospitals at risk of closing.”
Host: “Several North Carolinians who say their lives will be impacted negatively if enhanced tax credits in the Affordable Care Act end spoke on a video call… Lea Charlton says she’s dealt with multiple strokes and is facing increased costs.”
Lea Charlton: “And they are so hellbent on letting those credits expire that they shut down the government over it. I have no idea how I will afford higher rates when I can barely afford my current rate.”
