WTF Is Leandro? 😵‍💫

If you’ve heard us talk about Leandro before and thought, “who’s Leandro?” — you’re not alone. So let’s break it down.

Leandro is a decades-long court case that says every child in North Carolina has the constitutional right to a sound, basic education. In other words, fully funding our public schools isn’t optional — it’s the law.

Here’s what that means for our communities:

For kids: smaller classes, access to pre-K, and the resources they need to thrive from day one.

For teachers: fair pay, support staff, and classrooms that aren’t running on fumes.

For communities: strong schools that bring families here, grow our economy, and keep North Carolina moving forward.

Speaking of moving, a new study shows North Carolina is one of the few places in the country where the under-five population is growing. Not because more kids are being born here, but because families are moving here. That means more kids in our classrooms, more pressure on teachers, and more proof that fully funding Leandro isn’t just important — it’s urgent.

So why hasn’t it happened yet? You guessed it: Republicans in the General Assembly. They’ve spent years dragging their feet, ignoring the courts, stalling teacher pay raises, and playing politics while our kids wait.

So WTF is Leandro? It’s a promise — that every child, no matter their zip code, gets the education they deserve. It’s a promise we can’t afford to keep putting off.

WTF Happened To My Vote? 🗳️

Over 80,000 North Carolinians are at risk of losing their voter registrations thanks to the Republican-led Board of Elections. Yes — the same party that just had one of their board members charged with putting drugs in their granddaughter’s ice cream. 🍦 Seriously. That’s who’s trying to silence your voice.

Republicans know their policies aren’t popular. They know most North Carolinians don’t want what they’re selling — so instead of winning people over, they’re kicking people off the rolls. If you can’t beat voters at the ballot box, silence them before they get there.

So WTF are North Carolina Democrats doing about it? We’ve already made over 70,000 calls to voters whose registrations were purged, and we’re not stopping. We’re texting, canvassing, and reaching out directly to make sure every voice gets heard. The people being hit hardest — Black, Brown, and rural communities — are exactly the ones Republicans don’t want showing up. We’re making sure they do.

Too many North Carolinians don’t even know their registration has been purged. That’s the whole point. Republicans are counting on confusion and apathy to do the dirty work for them.

That’s where you come in. September 16 is National Voter Registration Day — the best time to check your registration, fix it if needed, and help your neighbors do the same. Every person who checks, updates, and votes makes it harder for Republicans to pull these stunts in the future.
