The North Carolina Democratic Party renewed its criticism of the conservative group Americans for Prosperity and called on them to pull the anti-health care TV ad from the airwaves in light of recent analysis by Politifact.com, a Pulitzer Prize winning fact checker, which called the ad “absurd” and said was packed full of “misinformation” and “distortion.” Read More »

Representative David Price (D-NC) today announced his support for the health insurance reform legislation that will come before the House of Representatives later this week. Rep. Congressman Larry Kissell (NC-08) and the United States Departments of Treasury and Education have announced the allocation of $188 million in school construction bonds to North Carolina under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. These bonds can be used to finance the construction, rehabilitation or repair of public school facilities, or for the acquisition of land where schools will be built. Read More »

Gov. Perdue was appointed by President Obama this year to the Council of Governors to serve a two year term. The council is a bipartisan group of 10 governors who will work closely with the secretaries of Defense and Homeland Security, as well as other defense and national security officials, to advise the President on matters related to the National Guard and civil support missions.

Senator Richard Burr joined a hard-core partisan minority in voting against a commonsense measure that will extend jobless benefits and emergency health insurance for hundreds of North Carolinians. Burr was one of only 19 Republicans to vote against the short term extension, which had previously been held up for several days by Senator Jim Bunning of Kentucky. Read More »
