NEW FROM WASHINGTON EXAMINER: DC Republicans Panic Over Whatley’s Lackluster Campaign, Failure As “Recovery Czar”

Don Brown: “I did talk to, just so you all know, a prominent conservative U.S. senator today. The president of the United States is aware of the problem with Michael Whatley.”

As the crowded GOP Senate primary gets messier and as DC insider Michael Whatley’s failure as “recovery czar” stays in the spotlight, Whatley’s fellow DC Republicans are beginning to worry behind closed doors about his flailing and uninspiring campaign.

Washington Examiner: “Whatley is also facing criticism from within his own party, underscoring how deeply the recovery issue has penetrated Republican grassroots politics.”

Washington Examiner: “But Michael Whatley has failed,” [Don] Brown said in audio obtained exclusively by the Washington Examiner. “I did talk to, just so you all know, a prominent conservative U.S. senator today. The president of the United States is aware of the problem with Michael Whatley. But he has failed.”

This comes as a former Trump adviser recently blasted Whatley on the Matt Gaetz show, calling him “the wrong candidate” and saying he “needs to drop out.” Republican Senator Thom Tillis also recently took to the Senate floor and called the federal Helene response “incompetent.”

“As Michael Whatley’s campaign flounders because North Carolinians know he will always leave them behind, it’s no surprise even his fellow DC Republican insiders are beginning to worry,” said NCDP Spokesperson Mallory Payne. “Whatley has failed Western North Carolina and proven to voters he can’t be trusted in the U.S. Senate.”
