WGHP: “Retailers are already putting out their holiday decorations but you may see fewer options with higher price tags this year.”
New reporting from WGHP is highlighting how Michael Whatley’s tariffs are driving up the cost of holiday decorations for North Carolina families and even causing a shortage in decor.
Whatley has called the trade war “record setting in terms of […] effectiveness” and said he supports it “wholeheartedly.”

“Retailers are already putting out their holiday decorations but you may see fewer options with higher price tags this year. President Trump’s tariffs are impacting Christmas decorations, especially artificial Christmas trees. One American company, the National Tree Company, says they increased prices by about 10% and the amount of product they imported is down by 25% this year.”
