Kitchen Table Blues, Believe Your Eyes, Wingman Whatley

Here’s what were covering this week!👇

Kitchen Table Blues

Lately, it feels like every time we turn around, the news out of D.C. is getting more expensive for folks at home. While Donald is busy in a tug-of-war over Greenland and hiking up new tariffs, North Carolina families are the ones footing with the bill.

The reality is that for a lot of us, the “middle-class dream” is starting to feel like exactly that—a dream. 77 percent of Americans say it’s harder to get ahead now than it was for our parents. Between rent, the light bill, and the grocery line, the math just isn’t adding up.

  • The Cost: Last year alone, the average family lost $1,625 to inflation.
  • The Grocery Bill: Roughly $310 of that was spent just on food.
  • The Verdict: Over half of the folks in America (51%) blame Donald’s policies for making life less affordable.

Donald claims affordability is a “democratic scam,” but that’s a luxury only the 1% can afford to believe.

Believe Your Eyes, Not Their Lies

On Saturday, masked federal agents in Minnesota once again shot and killed a U.S. citizen in broad daylight. Alex Pretti was a registered nurse at the Minneapolis VA who cared for critically ill veterans in the ICU. In a statement released by his parents after his murder, they said that Alex “loved this country, but he hated what people were doing to it.”

NCDP Chair Anderson Clayton issued the following statement supporting the growing bipartisan calls for Secretary Noem’s impeachment:

“Accountability has to mean something in the United States. ICE is murdering people in the streets, American Citizens are being wrongfully detained and arrested, political tensions continue to rise to the point elected officials are being assaulted, kids are getting picked off as they walk to school. Today, I am joining the bipartisan coalition calling for Kristi Noem to be impeached – and I will continue to work day in and day out so that the complicit Republicans who have stood by face accountability at the ballot box.”

A new report just pulled the curtain back on the truth we already knew. American consumers and importers are footing 96% of the cost of Donald’s tariff tantrums.

That’s money out of your wallet, backed “wholeheartedly” by Republican Senate candidate Michael Whatley. Whatley has proven time and time again he’s “ride or die” for the D.C. script. He’s made it clear his top priority is delivering for special interests and the D.C. Republicans who hand-picked him for this seat, even when that means taking a sledgehammer to our economy.

Come November we must reject Michael Whatley and his D.C. agenda by electing Roy Cooper to the U.S. Senate.

Our Future Is On The Ballot

It’s no secret that 2026 is shaping up to be a pivotal year for North Carolina. It’s more than an election, it’s a fight for our democracy and restoring justice to our courts.

If we’re serious about taking back our courts and finally putting a stop to the gerrymandering that silences our voices, the first step is clear: we have to re-elect Justice Anita Earls to the NC Supreme Court.  She is our frontline of defense for fair maps and equal rights, and we can’t afford to lose her seat. In both chambers of the General Assembly, we also have the ability to flip seats and make sure that we have a larger seat at the table and give our Governor a stronger veto pen.

The work doesn’t stop in Raleigh. We have to protect our freedoms and actually get things done for North Carolina on the national stage. We need Roy Cooper in the U.S. Senate. We know his record, we know he delivers, and we know he’ll fight for us—not D.C. insiders.

2026 is the year we stop talking about change and start voting for it. Our courts, our maps, and our future are all on the ballot.

That’s a wrap for this week’s messaging!

We hope this week that everyone takes a breath, finds some joy and peace in the midst of all the chaos and knows that their work does not go unnoticed or unappreciated.

See y’all on the internet!
