Farmers “Outraged” As Michael Whatley’s Trade War Leaves Them Behind

In new reporting from Newsweek, farmers and agricultural groups are “outraged,” saying Washington Republicans’ chaotic trade policies have “set us up and sold us out” and are “putting America’s farmers out of business.”

DC insider Michael Whatley has cheered on the trade war that is “squeezing farmers’ budgets” and “hurt[ing their] bottom line,” calling it “record setting in terms of […] effectiveness” and supporting it “wholeheartedly.”

Now, Michael Whatley is staying silent as farmers get left behind by his trade war.

“Nothing stops Michael Whatley from prioritizing DC insiders over North Carolinians – even as farmers across the state get hit with soaring costs and worry if they’ll be able to get by,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor at the North Carolina Democratic Party. “If Michael Whatley is in the U.S. Senate, he will never do what’s right for North Carolina.”
