North Carolina Democratic Party Chairman Wayne Goodwin issued the following statement ahead of Health & Human Services Secretary Alex Azar’s visit to Charlotte on Thursday: 

“As the Trump administration has fumbled through its response to the coronavirus pandemic, North Carolina’s first responders have been paying the price. Even months into this crisis, our health workers still don’t have all the PPE they need to safely test and treat their patients, and the lack of testing kits supplied by the federal government has hindered our response from day one. During his visit to Charlotte I hope that instead of just posing for photos, Secretary Azar will recognize these needs and work to secure more tests and equipment for North Carolina’s heroes.”
