Despite two new polls showing wide support for President Biden’s American Rescue Plan, including among Independents and Republicans, North Carolina Republicans continue to play political games with urgent pandemic relief instead of listening to their constituents.
SHOT: Americans overwhelmingly support Biden’s American Rescue Plan, including Independents & Republicans
- Morning Consult: “76 percent said they back the stimulus package, including 52 percent who said they ‘strongly’ support the bill.
- “7 in 10 independents support the stimulus proposal, compared to over 1 in 5 who oppose it.”
- “More than half of GOP voters still back the stimulus package at 60 percent.”
- The Economist’s G. Elliott Morris: “66% of Americans in a new The Economist/YouGov poll said they support Biden’s economic/covid-19 relief plan.”
CHASER: Although Americans want Biden’s plan, Republicans continue to go against their constituents and oppose it.
In a floor speech, Rep. Budd said: “The American people aren’t fooled by any of this. They see through the game,” — even as a majority of Americans support the plan.
Rep. Cawthorn took to Fox News, saying “Democrats are putting their agenda before the American people,” — even as polls show the American people are widely supportive of the bill.
CNN reports: “But with the bill headed to the House floor for a vote as early as Friday, Republicans face significant political risk by forming a unified front of opposition to the legislation, especially given that nearly 7 in 10 Americans supported the bill in a Quinnipiac University poll released earlier this month.”
