Ahead of the House Judiciary hearing in Charlotte today, here’s a reminder that DC insider Michael Whatley and Washington Republicans have been repeatedly caught lying about Governor Cooper’s record of keeping North Carolinians safe and putting criminals behind bars.
- Whatley’s claims have been fact checked as “FALSE” by WRAL and debunked by Axios and POLITICO.
- Popular Information called his claims “unfounded” and “baseless.”
- The NRSC was caught “deceptively editing” video footage to mislead voters and double down on Whatley’s lies.
- Just last week, the Charlotte Observer fact checked an ad from a DC Republican PAC lobbing Whatley’s same attacks.
Whatley is desperate to distract from his own record of backing cuts to state and federal law enforcement, which he called “vital” and “fundamental.”
“Michael Whatley and his fellow DC insiders will do anything to distract from his disastrous support for cuts to law enforcement funding,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor at the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Whatley has been caught telling lie after lie about Governor Cooper’s record of keeping North Carolinians safe, but that’s just what you’d expect from a DC insider.”
