NEW: In New Video, Michael Whatley Refuses To Denounce Kristi Noem Directing FEMA Aid To Florida Political Donor

Back home in Washington today, DC insider Michael Whatley refused to denounce Kristi Noem fast-tracking FEMA disaster relief to her Florida political donor – while Western North Carolina continues to wait for desperately needed federal aid.

WATCH:

The new video footage comes on the heels of Whatley being protested for campaigning on the anniversary of Hurricane Helene after failing to deliver much-needed relief to Western North Carolina.

In January, Whatley was put in charge of “making sure everything goes well” in the federal Helene recovery. In the nine months since, only 9 percent of needs have been met in WNC as the federal government withholds hundreds of millions of dollars of relief, leading more than 100 Western North Carolinians to call on FEMA to fire Whatley due to his failure to deliver federal relief.

“Western North Carolina has been completely left behind under DC insider Michael Whatley’s watch. Now, Whatley is standing by Kristi Noem after she directed relief to a Florida political donor instead of WNC communities still struggling nine months after Whatley was put in charge,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor for the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Michael Whatley will always put DC insiders ahead of North Carolina.”
