North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) Chair Bobbie Richardson released the following statement on news that the United States Supreme Court is taking up Moore v. Harper, an extreme North Carolina Republican election case that would empower state legislators to determine election results: 

“North Carolina Republicans’ election case seeks a radical misinterpretation of our U.S. constitution that would have severe implications on future presidential and congressional elections, including empowering state legislators to overturn election results and subvert the will of North Carolina voters. North Carolina Republicans have imposed their extreme agenda by rigging our state’s elections and silencing voters to cling desperately onto power. North Carolina Democrats will never stop fighting to elect leaders who will protect our democracy, and we implore the Supreme Court to reject this case.”
