NCDP Statement on August Unemployment Figures

Following the release of North Carolina’s updated unemployment figures, NCDP Chairman Wayne Goodwin issued the following statement:

“Even while our unemployment rate declined in August, today’s report from the BLS showed that North Carolina’s workforce actually shrunk by more than 70,000 people from July to August. Six months into this crisis, our state’s working families continue to pay the price for Donald Trump’s incompetence. This recession has dragged on because of the poor judgement he has shown throughout this pandemic, and it’s clear he is not equipped to lead us out of it. There’s never been a more important moment in North Carolina’s history to elect a leader with the experience and temperament to lead. Joe Biden has shown he is the candidate who can meet the moment, and that’s why we need to elect him President in November.”
