NCDP Launches “This Budd’s Not For You” To Highlight Congressman Budd’s Record Of Putting His Corporate Campaign Backers Ahead Of North Carolina

The North Carolina Democratic Party today launched “This Budd’s Not For You,” a new website outlining how Congressman Budd has repeatedly sided with the corporate special interests that bankroll his campaign over doing what’s right for North Carolinians.

Visit the full website here.

Ted Budd’s “quiet” campaign “hiding” from voters is desperately trying to pose as the “small-town guy,” but he can’t help but come off as “stiff and plastic – pull the string and the talking point comes out.”

“Congressman Budd has spent his entire career in Congress rewriting the rules to help himself and the corporations that fund his campaign rather than doing what’s right for North Carolinians. North Carolina can’t trust Ted Budd to do the job,” said NCDP spokesperson Kate Frauenfelder.

“This Budd’s Not For You” details the many ways Congressman Budd has voted against the best interests of North Carolinians to further enrich his campaign and corporate backers.

  • AROUND THE WORLD WITH TED BUDD: He “took advantage of his position” in Congress and took a series of trips worth over $30,000 to destinations like Miami, Palm Beach and Oslo, Norway – all funded by special interests.

  • BIG OIL IN THE DRIVER’S SEAT: Just ONE DAY before voting against a gas price-gouging ban, Budd took money from Big Oil.

  • BUDD PROTECTS PAYDAY LENDERS, NC PAYS THE PRICE: Despite North Carolina’s payday lending ban, Budd has consistently voted for legislation that supports predatory lenders and their “exploitative tactics,”  even receiving industry donations “within days of a key vote.”

  • BUDD BACKS WALL ST. OVER MAIN ST.: Budd consistently took money from big banks, then voted to let credit companies charge sky-high fees and opposed efforts to lower costs for North Carolinians.

  • FARMERS CAN’T TRUST BUDD: Ted Budd and his family were involved in a bankrupt agriculture company that screwed farmers out of $50 million and left behind a pile of tax debt.
