In a new interview on WBT with Brett Winterble, GOP Senate candidate Don Brown went after DC insider Michael Whatley’s lackluster candidacy:

Don Brown: “No matter how much Whatley can raise, you simply cannot buy excitement for a candidate”

This is hardly the first time Republicans’ lack of enthusiasm about Whatley has been in the spotlight: 

Don Brown: “I’m hearing all over the state that Republicans are not enthusiastic about Whatley.”

Steve Bannon: “One of the reasons [Whatley is] running so poorly in North Carolina. If you talk to the MAGA folks down there, they’re just not enthusiastic about it.”

Daily Haymaker: “It’s hard to excite conservative voters with a candidate who has been meaner toward his own party’s voters than he has to Democrats.”

“Even Republicans know Michael Whatley is a DC insider who will always be on the side of DC politicians over North Carolina families. It’s pretty difficult to get excited about that,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor at the North Carolina Democratic Party.
