As voters head to the polls today for the primary election, North Carolinians are reading and hearing all about how DC insider and Big Oil Lobbyist Michael Whatley is only looking out for himself and will never put North Carolina families first.
WRAL: “[Whatley] is as establishment as they come. I mean, he was a DC lobbyist, and then ran the state party and then ran the national party. I mean, that is just the establishment. And there were a lot of people in the base who said, ‘we don’t want that. We want an outsider. We want somebody who hasn’t just, you know, been living and breathing politics their entire life.’”
WRAL: “Whatley spent most of his career as a lobbyist for the oil and gas industry and some of his biggest investments are in Chevron, Exxon Mobil.”
The Guardian: “‘The president made a horrible mistake forcing Whatley on us,’ said Brant Clifton, who publishes the Daily Haymaker, a conservative news site in North Carolina. […] ‘He’s got the RNC working to shove Mike Whatley down our throats….’”
CNN: “Trump ally Steve Bannon has said that Whatley is ‘not MAGA’ and that MAGA voters are ‘just not enthusiastic about’ him.”
“As North Carolinians head to the polls, DC insider Michael Whatley can’t hide from the fact that he’s a DC insider and Big Oil lobbyist who’s only looking out for himself and his special interest buddies,” said NCDP Spokesperson Mallory Payne.
