Back To School 📚

As the school bells ring and our kids head back to class, too many classrooms are already running on empty. Fewer teachers. Fewer counselors. Fewer resources. All because Republican lawmakers refuse to fund what our Constitution already promised: a sound, basic education.

The Leandro plan is the simplest fix — a clear, court-ordered roadmap to fully fund our schools. Instead of following through, Republicans in Raleigh keep dragging their feet while parents, teachers, and students are left to do more with less. They can’t even pass a budget — leaving teacher pay raises on hold while our schools fall further behind. Overcrowded classrooms, staff stretched thin, programs cut before they even begin — that’s the reality our kids are walking into.

44% of parents plan to go into debt purchasing school supplies this year – up 10% from 2024.
School supplies are up 7.3% this year, while some supplies, like index cards, are surging by more than 40%.
North Carolina teachers are spending more than $1,600 on classroom supplies, ranking second in the nation for out-of-pocket spending.
Economists warn that North Carolina teachers and parents could face rising back-to-school costs due to tariffs and inflation.

Our children only get one shot at a quality education — and North Carolina has the money to make it happen. Folks, it’s time to demand better. Tell your representatives: Fund Leandro now. Our kids future can’t wait.

The North Carolina Playbook 📍

Y’all, what’s happening in Texas right now isn’t new — it’s the same crooked playbook Republicans ran right here in North Carolina in 2023. We warned loud and clear: if lawmakers shoved through those extreme gerrymandered maps, it would give other states the green light to follow. The North Carolina Supreme Court allowed it anyway.

Now Texas Republicans are pulling the same stunt — slicing up districts to silence Democratic voices and lock themselves into power before a single vote is cast. This isn’t governing. It’s cheating. It’s Republicans telling millions of voters — including their own — that YOU don’t matter.

Republicans know their policies aren’t popular. They know they can’t win fairly. So they gerrymander, suppress, and scheme to hang onto power. While Democrats are fighting back in California, in Texas, and all across this country, the GOP keeps proving they’ll stop at nothing to silence voters.

That’s why turning out the vote in state elections matters so much. As long as Republicans hold the pen, they’ll keep drawing maps that keep us out.

Protect The Vote 📢

Voting isn’t just a right—it’s how we make our voices heard and shape our communities.

Early voting kicked off August 21 in Rural Hall, Tobaccoville, Sanford, and Charlotte, with other municipalities starting in September. Take a minute to check your local dates and locations so casting your ballot is as easy as it should be.

Thanks to the mess Jefferson Griffin left behind, the State Board of Elections is sending letters to 82,700 voters who need to update their registrations. Mail alone isn’t enough—that’s why the NCDP has already made over 70,000 calls, is sending texts, and will be canvassing in person to make sure everyones voice is heard.

This isn’t just happening in North Carolina. Across the country, Republicans are trying to limit mail-in ballots and manipulate maps. The only way to fight back is at the ballot box. Check your registration, make your plan, and help your neighbors do the same—because the future of our country is in our hands.

Labor Day 🛠️

Labor Day isn’t just a long weekend — it’s about celebrating the people who keep North Carolina and America running every single day. It’s our teachers in the classroom, nurses on the night shift, construction crews out in the heat, grocery clerks stocking shelves, and so many others who give their time, talent, and energy to keep our communities strong.

These are the folks who make our economy work. They’re the foundation of everything we build together.

Let’s be honest: working people don’t always get the respect they deserve. Donald Trump has never stood with labor unions or fought for fair wages. Time and again, he’s put big corporations and wealthy CEOs first, leaving workers behind.

Democrats see it differently. We know that when workers do well, families do well — and when families do well, our communities thrive. That’s why we’ll always fight for fair pay, safe workplaces, strong unions, and the basic dignity every worker deserves.

This Labor Day, let’s take a moment to thank the people who keep North Carolina moving — and let’s keep standing up for them, every day of the year.

Donald’s Fantasyland 😵‍💫

Delusional Don is at it again — this time claiming that “people are saying” America needs a dictator. Let’s get one thing straight: no one is saying that you freak. Not Democrats. Not Independents. Not even most Republicans. The only person daydreaming about a dictatorship is Donald himself.

From cozying up to Putin and Kim Jong Un to floating fantasies about starting wars and canceling elections in 2028, the only one fantasizing about dictatorship is Donald himself.

It’s not the first time he’s tried to sell us a version of reality that doesn’t exist. He claims gas and grocery prices are going down. They’re not — they’re climbing. He brags about the dollar being stronger than ever. In reality, it’s sunk since he took office. Over and over again, Trump makes things up and tries to convince Americans to believe them.

Trump doesn’t deal in facts. Never has. Never will. He deals in lies, spin, and delusions. No matter how many times he tries to rewrite reality, one thing will never change — Americans don’t want a dictator and we’ll never let him become one.
