The Trump Tax 🧾

Donald campaigned on the promise to lower costs. Instead, he handed us the Trump Tax — a massive, cruel money grab that robs working families to bankroll his billionaire buddies.

The Trump Tax alone will cost the average North Carolina household $750 a year. Add in Trump’s reckless tariff tantrums, and that loss skyrockets to $1,700 annually — while the wealthiest 10% cash in with an extra $12,000.

The worst part? Our so-called “representatives” didn’t just let it happen — they cheered it on. Every single North Carolina House Republican — and of course, Senator Ted Budd — helped shove this disaster into law.

Here’s what Republicans wanted for North Carolina:

652,000 North Carolinians will lose health insurance
1.42 Million will lose access to food assistance
125,000 jobs are on the chopping block
Five rural hospitals are at risk of closing
Electricity bills are spiking by 18.1%

While Trump and his MAGA cronies keep lining their donors’ pockets, working folks here at home are footing the bill — and our Republican representatives in D.C. willingly sold us out.

SB266 (Dirty Duke Deal) 🔌

North Carolinians are already feeling the pain of rising energy bills, thanks to the GOP’s so-called “Big Beautiful Bill” — which jacked up costs by 18%. Now, Republicans in Raleigh want to make it even worse.

Senate Bill 266 — also known as the Dirty Duke Deal — would force everyday North Carolinians to foot the bill again, handing Duke Energy a blank check to charge you for power plants that don’t even exist. It shifts costs away from big industrial polluters and dumps them right into our living rooms — raising household energy prices and blowing up our clean energy progress in the process.

Let’s take a look at the facts in this bill:

Shift energy costs from big corporations onto working families
Let Duke charge customers for hypothetical plants
Set North Carolina back on our clean energy goals
Cost North Carolinians up to $23 BILLION more

Thankfully, Governor Josh Stein vetoed this disaster. Now it’s on us to help stop Republicans from overriding that veto.

It’s been six months since Donald returned to the White House — and in that short time, he’s made life harder, more expensive, and more chaotic for millions of Americans.

He promised to lower costs and put America first. Instead, we got reckless trade wars, slashed healthcare, sky-high prices, and a tax scheme that hands billions to the rich — while working families are left holding the bag.

While Trump keeps breaking promises, Democrats are showing up. We’ve held 138 People’s Town Halls, over-performed in 34 of 35 key races, and kept fighting with real plans that put people first.

If you’ve felt frustrated, exhausted, or just plain fed up — you’re not alone. But the next chapter isn’t written yet. Together, we can organize, vote, share, and speak up.
