The Pump, the Chaos, and the Convention Floor

Here’s what were covering this week!👇

Shock At The Pump

Looking at the sign at the gas station this week is enough to make you want to put the car in reverse and just go back home. Getting back and forth to work or dropping the kids off at school shouldn’t have to feel like a luxury.

In just two weeks, we’ve watched gas prices spike more than 30%. Right here at home, the North Carolina average just hit a painful $3.76 a gallon. Think about it: this time last year, we were paying about $2.79 a gallon. Now we’re handing over nearly a full dollar extra for every. single. gallon.

North Carolinians are already working overtime just to get by, and families shouldn’t have to empty their wallets for Donald’s war.

Fighting For You

Y’all, we know the news can be incredibly heavy these days. Almost every one of us knows a family or a community that has been touched by the fentanyl crisis. It’s a heartbreak that’s quietly taking six North Carolinians from us every single day.

When a problem hits that close to home, we don’t need another politician just talking about it on TV—we need someone willing to roll up their sleeves and actually do the heavy lifting to stop it.

If you want to stop the drugs, you have to cut off the money. That’s exactly what Attorney General Jeff Jackson is doing. He is stepping up, fighting for North Carolina families, and finally saying enough is enough.

For years, billions of dollars fueling this epidemic have been laundered through underground networks using Chinese-owned messaging apps like WeChat. These companies were perfectly fine looking the other way while our communities paid the price, leaving American law enforcement completely in the dark.

That’s why AG Jeff Jackson teamed up with a bipartisan coalition, bypassed the partisan noise, and went straight to the source to demand real, enforceable action.

Here’s how he broke it down:

“If you want to stop fentanyl, you have to go after the money. That’s what we’ve done with WeChat, a messaging app based in China. It wasn’t doing enough to stop money laundering, so we gave them 30 days to respond to our demands and made clear what would happen if they didn’t. They responded. Law enforcement now has tools it didn’t have to go after the money that fuels the fentanyl epidemic.”

This is exactly what it looks like to have Democrats fighting for you. It’s not about flashy soundbites; it’s about doing the hard, behind-the-scenes work to keep our kids and our neighborhoods safe.

County Enthusiasm

County conventions are in full swing from the mountains to the coast, and the grassroots energy across North Carolina right now is absolutely electric!

From the folks setting up the chairs in the community center to the neighbors stepping up to organize, plan, and fight for our state every single day. That sweat equity is exactly what gets good people elected and keeps our communities moving forward.

We want to celebrate the folks doing the heavy lifting! If your county convention is happening, we want a front-row seat to the action. Snap some photos and tag us at @NCDems on social media so we can hype you up and show off the amazing volunteers making it all happen! Let’s keep this momentum rolling!

Honoring an Icon

As we wrap up Women’s History Month, we couldn’t let March slip by without honoring an absolute trailblazer right here in North Carolina: Supreme Court Justice Anita Earls.

Before she was making critical decisions on our state’s highest court, Justice Earls was in the trenches doing the hard work as a civil rights attorney. Her entire career has been built on a deep, unwavering commitment to fighting for equality, fairness, and the rule of law for all North Carolinians.

We are beyond lucky to have someone with her level of dedication and integrity on the bench. But frankly, the best way we can truly honor her legacy and her trailblazing contributions isn’t just with a post—it’s by doing the work to make sure she is re-elected this November.

That’s a wrap for this week’s messaging!

Now it’s your turn! Download the graphics below, copy our captions, and get the message out! Whether you’re lighting up the group chat or sharing it on your timeline, your voice is what actually moves the needle!
