🎄🎁Day 2 of 12 Days of Whatley’s Christmas Costs: Christmas Decorations Are More Expensive Thanks to Whatley’s Tariffs

On the second day of Whatley’s Christmas Costs, holiday decor prices skyrocketed from DC insider Michael Whatley’s reckless tariffs.

Whatley has called the trade war “record setting in terms of […] effectiveness” and supports them “wholeheartedly.”

WGHP: Tariffs are causing shortages, higher prices on artificial Christmas trees, CEO says

  • While retailers are gearing up for Christmas, business owners are warning consumers that they might see fewer options and higher price tags for decorations this year as a result of tariffs.
  • Chris Butler, the CEO of the National Tree Company, told Nexstar’s NewsNation that his company has had to increase their prices by about 10%.
  • “We tried to absorb some costs, as you said, you know, we asked our manufacturing partners to absorb some costs, but then ultimately, we did have to pass some cost on,” Butler said.

NBC News: Tariffs could be coming for your Christmas tree

  • Forget the Grinch — this year, it’s tariffs that could try to steal the Christmas tree.
  • Artificial Christmas trees will cost an estimated 10% to 20% more this season than they did last year because of increased tariff costs, according to several major U.S. importers. And the cost of lights could jump as much as 63% for the same reason.

“North Carolina families are decorating their homes for the holidays but thanks to DC insider Michael Whatley’s tariffs, the cost of trees, lights, and decor are soaring,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor for the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Next November, voters will reject Whatley for backing DC’s reckless trade war that is making life less affordable for  working families.”
