New commentary in Southeast Farm Press is highlighting how North Carolina farmers “will be hard pressed to find a profit” as their production costs skyrocket, thanks to Michael Whatley’s trade war.

- American farmers would prefer turning to the market for a profit. Like all businesses, they want dependable customers. But trade wars and never-ending competition from countries like Brazil and Argentina are challenging.
- Even with good yields, farmers will be hard pressed to find a profit this year with inflation driving up their production costs. That’s frustrating because farmers, like all of us, want to be financially rewarded for their efforts.
- “Per usual, Michael Whatley is choosing DC insiders over North Carolinians, backing a trade war that is raising costs and hurting farmers across the state,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor at the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Whatley will never put North Carolina first.”
