Anderson Clayton, Chair of the North Carolina Democratic Party, and Lisa Jewel, President of the NCDP Jewish Caucus, issued the following statement in response to today’s attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield, Michigan.

“Today’s attack on Temple Israel in West Bloomfield is a horrifying act of violence against the Jewish community and against all of us who believe in the freedom to worship without fear. We are very grateful to the members of law enforcement and security for their swift response. From the Nazi imagery found last month in Charlotte to the increased hate speech seen online to acts of violence like we saw today, this rapid rise in antisemitism is sickening and has no place in our country. The North Carolina Democratic Party stands with the Congregation of Temple Israel and with the Jewish communities across our country who are shaken by today’s events. This hatred has no place in our country.”
