In a new interview on WBT’s Breaking With Brett Jensen, DC insider Michael Whatley says the quiet part out loud – he’s playing a direct role alongside Kristi Noem in delaying federal Helene relief for Western North Carolina.
Whatley brags about being able to “pick up the phone and call any of our Cabinet Secretaries…to help North Carolina.” Yet under “recovery czar” Whatley’s watch, FEMA is holding up millions of dollars of relief for Western North Carolina, and only 11 percent of victims’ needs have been met – and he’s stood all the while in lockstep with Kristi Noem instead of securing help for North Carolinians.
Whatley [13:21]: “I have a lot of relationships within the Trump administration. I’m very close to the President, I’m very close to the Vice President, and can pick up the phone and call any of our Cabinet Secretaries or anybody else through the administration to help North Carolina.”
“Michael Whatley is bragging about his ability to call Kristi Noem to get help for North Carolina at any time, yet he has let Western North Carolinians go nearly a year without the disaster relief they were promised,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor at the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Whatley is proving once again he will always put DC politicians first and leave North Carolina behind.”
