Will Budd & McCrory Stand By Walker’s SCOTUS Comments?

In a radio interview, U.S. Senate candidate Mark Walker implied that President Biden’s commitment to nominating a Black woman to the U.S. Supreme Court was affirmative action, saying it was a “slippery slope” when “you set those kinds of criteria.” His comments follow similar offensive comments from Republican Senators, even as President Biden has yet to announce his nominee, and reporting from CNN uncovering past comments from McCrory comparing a job rejection to 1960s segregation.

“Mark Walker’s comments reveal the length that Republicans will go to attack and block Democrats’ Supreme Court nominee,” said NCDP spokesperson Kate Frauenfelder. “With so much at stake on issues that North Carolinians care about, voters deserve to know: Will Budd and McCrory stand by his offensive comments?”
