Senator Thom Tillis: “Now we’re doing what I think is probably the most insulting thing you could possibly do to Capitol Police and the responding law enforcement agencies that are on that plaque in the Capitol now.”
New reporting in Punchbowl News reveals DC insider Michael Whatley backs a slush fund that would give nearly $2 billion to sex predators and rioters who attacked police officers – but hasn’t offered a single plan to lower costs for North Carolina working families struggling to afford rising gas, grocery, energy, and health care prices.
The fund has bipartisan opposition, including from GOP Senator Thom Tillis who called the fund an “embarrassment” and “the most insulting thing you could possibly do to Capitol Police and the responding law enforcement agencies.”
“DC insider Michael Whatley would rather give billions of dollars to sex predators and rioters who attacked law enforcement than lower costs for working families as they face record inflation,” said Mallory Payne, senior communications advisor for the North Carolina Democratic Party. “Once again, Whatley embodies the corruption and self-dealing in DC that everyone hates and proving he’ll always put North Carolina last in the U.S. Senate.”
