NCDP National Voter Registration Day Statement

North Carolina Democratic Party (NCDP) Chair Bobbie Richardson released the following statement on National Voter Registration Day:

“We’ve witnessed time and again in North Carolina partisan efforts to restrict voters’ access to the ballot. Republican lawmakers in North Carolina have gerrymandered maps and passed suppressive voter identification laws that have sparked a flurry of court cases over the last decade alone.

“In North Carolina and across the country, so much is at stake in the upcoming elections — from defeating the pandemic once and for all to rebuilding the economy back better to protecting the sacred right to vote to combating climate change. That’s why North Carolina Democrats are working nonstop to register voters today — National Voter Registration Day — and every day. Across the country, activists and organizers are joining our fight to ensure every American can exercise their fundamental right to vote.

“President Biden, Vice President Harris and Democrats in North Carolina and across the country are leading the fight to protect the right. National Voter Registration Day is a great opportunity to connect with friends and family, make sure they’re registered to vote, and do everything we can to make sure North Carolina Democrats win in the upcoming elections in 2021, 2022, and beyond.”
